It’s Getting Real

Before I get too far into the post at hand, I wanted to take an opportunity to mention how much fun our vacation was last week. We went to Disney World as a family (mom, dad, Larisa, Trevor, Rebekah and I) for 6 days. It was the first time in a while we’ve gone as a family and the first time ever that we (as a family) stayed on site in one of the Disney resorts. It was a really fun and relaxing time… and yes, Disney does everything right!

So on to the post as titled – “It’s Getting Real.” The day after we got back from vacation (Tuesday) Rebekah had another doctor’s appointment… we spent more time waiting for the doctor (45-60 minutes behind) than we did in his office. And some wonder why I don’t exactly frequent the doctor’s office myself (still haven’t gotten a primary since they kicked me out of the pediatrician’s office). Once we did get to see the doctor, he asked some questions, answered some of Rebekah’s questions and even asked me if there were any questions that I had.

The coolest part of the visit was getting to hear the baby’s heartbeat. It took a minute or so to find, which he says is normal this early, and of course Rebekah had to laugh just as he found it. So Baby Hussak is alive and kicking ticking.

On Friday, we went to a baby/infant consignment sale on the recommendation of the family Rebekah nannies for (you can see their blog, Six Small Hands, here). There was a ton of clothes that we chose not to take advantage of being we don’t know the sex of the baby yet, but we did get a really nice changing table, walker and some fabric books, bath toys, etc. Great prices, great quality and great value! Thanks Melisa!!

Today, after some yard work, laundry, and other stuff around the house, Rebekah and I went to Babies R Us to get started on picking out a theme for the nursery. I think we had previously settled on a Pooh Bear theme, but of course there are at least 6-8 to pick between. There are few few cute ones, but but we need some help deciding… here comes the interactive part of the blog… if you could help us by taking a look at the following themes and giving some feedback in the comments section, it would be greatly appreciated.

While we were at Babies R Us, we decided to start our registry… pretty much so that we could put some things on we wanted to remember later, or in the case of strollers, we wanted to read some reviews on etc. It’s not complete, and there are some duplicate items, but if you want to take a look and provide any input, here’s the link: http://bit.ly/dtg4iv

Thanks for all your thoughts, prayers, and well-wishes. We are getting more and more excited with each passing day, week and month.

And A Picture to Prove It

Rebekah and I went to the doctor’s again on Monday…this time for her first ultrasound. First off, as a “techy” kind if guy…my goodness that machine is cool! Secondly, and yeah, more importantly, I can’t begin to explain how great the feeling is seeing that tiny little black and white picture of the new little life growing inside the woman you love so much.

Since I’m sure that everyone else is excited to see my our little guy, and here you go…I introduce to you, and for the first time, Baby Hussak:

I’m Gonna Be A Daddy!

So I’ve had a desire to blog for a while, just haven’t taken the opportunity to set-up and do anything about it…

…Well, now I have some added motivation.¬†On June 29th, Rebekah went to have some blood work done to check whether or not she was pregnant, in advance of an MRI she was going to have the next day. While we were hopeful, the test came back negative so we sort of pushed the “baby” thought to the back of our minds. A couple weeks later, on July 10th, Rebekah woke me up at 6:30am (ungodly for a Saturday morning) to tell me that she peed. I offered her a quick congratulations and tried to go back to sleep. She then reminded me that she was going to take a home pregnancy test that morning (you know, the pee on a stick thing) and in fact, there were two blue lines. Needless to say, I was overjoyed…and thoroughly excited we found out on a Saturday morning where we had the opportunity to spend the day together.

Shortly after that we told our parents, then my grandma, then it began to trickle out to people we work with, close friends, etc. I’m happy to finally be able to tell the world, that on (or around) March 12, 2011, I am going to be a daddy!

Which leads me to the next part of my story. So the baby is currently due on March 12th, maybe March 16th (due to the timing with the negative blood test). March is a great month to be born. Heck, I was born March 16th. So was my sister. And so were a couple of my cousins. My brother was born in February, another cousin in February. My mom and Rebekah are both in April. Get the point yet (if not, then first part of the year is kind of busy for birthdays in my family)? It was my hope, goal, and desire to do my part to spread any new birthdays out a little bit. Guess that’s not what God had in store. :)

As the days turn to weeks, and the weeks turn to months, I’m sure that my excitement will only grow and I’ll have more stuff to post. For now though, after all the phone calls, text messages and e-mails this evening (since tonight we “officially” told more friends and family) I’m pretty worn out.
